Powerful framing of "living for democracy" instead of just resisting. That distinction between access always being inequitable vs fighting for actual equity really reframes what defending democracy actually means. Been trying to figure out what my role should be in this, this piece helped clarify that its not just one big heroic act but alot of smaller choices.
As an older cis white woman, I’ve been doing this since Jan 2025. Haven’t set foot in Target, Walmart, Home Depot. Canceled all subscriptions such as Paramount. Haven’t ordered Amazon .. canceled Prime.
Been to every NO Kings, Tesla, and any other protests I can make it to. Call my worthless GOP rep weekly, my 2 dem senators regularly to thank them. 5 calls app is great, makes it easy. Emails are easy, post on their fb accounts. Call out their failures, praise their support.
Trained in de escalation. Volunteered to drive ppl to polls in 24.
Only 1 person but if we all do those little things, it adds up.
